UPDATE: Google AIQ will no longer be CCMR.

Google Analytics Individual Qualification aligns with most CTE courses for Career Readiness. This article covers CCMR & CTE, why Google Analytics, and alignments to state standards. This post will include a suggestion for obtaining the Google Analytics Individual Qualification certification in the CTE classroom.

  • What is CCMR & CTE?
  • Why Google Analytics?
  • How to implement the Individual Qualification certification.
  • State Standards Alignment (CTE TEKS).

CCMR & CTE.

There are vocational classes called Career and Technical Education, which promote Career Readiness in schools. Some abbreviations include CTE or CaTE (Kate). These CTE classes have different standards other than state standardized tests.

The second C of CCMR is the measurement of CTE Classes. College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) ensures “that all Texas high school students have access to high-quality pathways to career and college,” according to TEA (1). CTE is responsible for Career Readiness by providing industry-based certifications from the IBC Approved Vendor Crosswalk.

Google Analytics.

These are the primary reasons why I use the Google Analytics Individual Qualification certification.

  1. It works with most industries.
  2. It is self-paced, with little guidance by the teacher.
    • Google Analytics Academy has the training and videos students will need.
  3. Training is approximately 4 hrs long.
    • That’s about 5 to 7 days of 45 min periods.
    • Or, 3 days for 1.5 hr block classes.
  4. It is free.

Thus, Google Analytics can go with any pathway, and it is not limited to “Business, Marketing, and Finance.” Google Analytics tracks how clients use an app or website which all industries use (either app or website). Therefore, Google Analytics can go with any industry. Learn about the Google Analytics IQ assessment. NOTE: No longer CCMR.

Implementation.

To provide Google Analytics IQ certification, follow these steps:

  • Discuss the purpose.
  • Preparations before starting.
  • Use the video-based, self-paced training that Google provides.
  • Provide the test.

Purpose.

Start by telling the students something similar to this, but related to your subject:

“Your career paths may be different. The Google Analytics training will help you anywhere you go. If you create your own business or work for anyone with a website or an app, that business will need to track how clients are using that website or app. Although this certification helps with your graduation, more important is what will happen after graduation. The Google Analytics Academy will train you for the Individual Qualification certification exam.”

Preparation.

  1. Students will need a personal Gmail account. Some school districts may block Google Analytics with the Google Workspace for Education account.
  2. Verify the student’s name on their personal Gmail because that is how it will appear on their certificate. Some students may have a lower case or nicknames instead. View Google Account settings.
  3. Create a Skillshop account.
  4. Create a Google Analytics Academy account.

Training & Test

  1. Have students take the self-paced beginners and advanced courses. Students must take notes and research any concept they do not understand.
  2. After completing the beginners and advanced courses, have students take the Google AIQ
  3. Congratulate the students who have passed. All students should take the next course. However, only those who did not pass should retake the test.
  4. Repeat the previous step until all have completed the first two and Google Analytics for Power Users, Getting Started With Google Analytics 360, Introduction to Data Studio, & Google Tag Manager Fundamentals.
  5. If students have not passed the test after completing all six courses, allow students to use their notes.
  6. For those students who are interested in continuing with Google Analytics, have them take updated courses through the Skillsop: GA4.

CTE State Standards

The terms covered here could go with any state standards. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills are standards specific to Texas schools. For Google Analytics courses, CTE TEKS follows (19 TAC Chapter 130).

A few term ideas to look for in your state standards:

  • “credential” or similar (important)
  • “client” (important)
  • “data”
  • “entrepreneurship”
  • “trend”
  • “emerging technology”(ies) concerning global markets

Those terms are available for most CTE TEKS under “.(c) Knowledge and skills.”

Beyond CCMR

I told my cousin about it and he replied with the message in the video.
  • CTE Courses in Middle School & High School, and Colleges should take adantage of this curriculum.
  • Grow with Google.
    • Career Certificates for CTE & Community Colleges.
  • UoPeople a tuition-free university.

What other certifications are free and important for students?
